Volunteering at Plum Street Market Garden near MGM Casino

I am volunteering here for my 40 volunteer hours to become a Certified Master Gardener this year. I'm really excited about God opening this door for me!  I started going there this week. I went for 2 hours on Tuesday and I will go for 2 hours on Thursday. The days of attendance will change as the seasons change.  I am getting flats ready with seedlings so they can be planted in various other gardens. I will keep you updated on what other hands-on gardening I do!!!

Volunteering in the Master Gardener Program

I have several prospects to complete the volunteering portion of the Master Gardener Program. I will probably do volunteering in several locations (to learn and have hands-on experience in several areas of gardening). I want to learn as much as I can so I can share my new knowledge with others, especially my customers.

Finished the Book Portion of the MSU Extension Master Gardener Course

I finished the book portion with a score of 100% on all quizzes and 93% on the final. Now I only have to do the volunteering portion of the course before I become a certified MSU Extension Master Gardener! I'm so excited!!!

Master Gardener course

I start the Master Gardener course in August 2015. I am hardly wait;  I'm so excited!!! I know that I'll be considered an expert, but learning about gardening will never end. I'll be able to answer many questions from customers, friends, and family.

Container Gardening

My passion is container gardening. If I plant perennials, I only plant one plant. With annuals, I plant several plants of one kind. I’ve learned, from experience, that the light,  moisture, and feeding differences of a plant(s) can make or break plantings in a container. I use  the best potting soil I can find. I like Miracle Gro, the best food and maintenance for my plants. I like John and Bob’s Smart Soil Solutions. Since I live in a Condo facing east with only a balcony (I get morning sun and afternoon shade), I only plant partial sun/shade plants.
